How do you get ducklings out of the incubator at home?
Entlein in an incubator has several advantages. Most importantly, you can always get the number of chicks you need. Due to their size, shell thickness and fat content, duck eggs have their nuances for the brood in the incubator.
First of all, you have to maintain a certain temperature regime. In addition, they need a higher humidity and special attention. The incubation period of duck eggs lasts 26-28 days.
The percentage of breeding ability and health of future offspring depends on the diet of the ducks. In order to obtain high quality eggs, the bird’s diet requires the intake of minerals and trace elements. In this case you can give them chalk, mussels, limestone. It is also necessary to feed greens, grass, vegetables and corn. Ducks should spend more time in the sun and fresh air. The resulting vitamins contribute to disease resistance and improve blood flow to future chicks.
The main criterion for selection is the freshness of the eggs. They can be collected for 7 days and kept in a dry place at a temperature of 8-13 ° C. The eggs can be kept in a dry place at a temperature of 8-13 ° C. The eggs can also be kept in a cool place. Moscow eggs can be stored for up to 15 days. The appearance of eggs should also be carefully examined by rejecting the non-standard shape, the shell with cracks, deposits and damage.
After the eggs have been collected, they are placed in a prepared incubator. The shells are washed and dried. To humidify the air in the device, containers with water are placed, the necessary thermal regulation is set. There are different models of incubators. Some devices automatically set the parameters humidity, air circulation, temperature and egg turning. The more automated functions it contains, the less time is spent on the breeding process. For ducks, the air level must be set to 770 ml.
The first 8 days of eggs should be kept in the incubator at a temperature of 37.8-38.3 ° C and a humidity of 58-62%. Nowadays, the embryo forms internal organs, including the heart. Change the position of the eggs should be 4 times a day.
From the eighth day, the temperature is lowered to 37.8 ° C. During this time the skeleton of the future chick is formed. Since duck eggs contain a lot of fat and little water, excessive heat is generated during incubation. This can lead to the death of the embryo. To prevent this, eggs must be cooled regularly. It is not necessary to take them out of the incubator. It is sufficient to switch off the device and open the doors for 15-20 minutes. Next, sprinkle the eggs with water from the sprinkler. You can add a little potassium permanganate. Do this 2 times a day and do not forget to turn the eggs 4-6 times. On the eighth day, the first X-ray will be taken to reveal the dead embryos.
The third stage is characterised by an increase in heat transfer. The temperature in the egg rises to 40-42 degrees. The nestling is almost completely formed. During this time, a second X-ray is taken and the eggs are removed by weight. In the fourth phase, the ducks are removed.
From the 26th day the egg revolution must be stopped. When pricking begins, humidity and ventilation should be increased to soften the shell slightly and help the chicks hatch. On the 27th day the ducks start to excrete. This process lasts up to 24 hours and usually ends on day 29.
It is necessary to wait when all ducklings are completely dry and then transfer to a box where the first 10 days maintain a temperature of 26-28 degrees, from 11 to 20 days it can be lowered to 22-26 degrees. Normal chicks at birth have a weight of 45-70 g, they are mobile and stand well on their legs.
Self-breeding ducks offer a chance to get healthy birds, as well as confidence in their breed. The observance of all incubation conditions contributes significantly to the appearance of a full brood.
The first factor that influences this is the bird species: waterfowl or land. Duck and chicken eggs differ not only in weight, but also in the thickness of the shell, so special conditions must be created for each species. The incubation of duck eggs takes almost a month. The incubation regime (see table below) must be adhered to in order to maintain healthy chicks.
Collect the eggs twice a day for incubation. Some duck breeds are carried at night, others – after dinner. For the incubation of duck eggs at home, only the cleanest eggs that have no defects are used. While entering the correct amount for the bookmark, it is necessary to ensure proper storage. Eggs should be in a dry room with a low temperature (about 15-18 degrees). During storage the humidity is taken into account – 70-80%.
To get healthy ducks, how to store the duck egg for incubation. To ensure that the percentage of hatching rate does not fall, the egg should be placed with a blunt end upwards. If you turn it over, it breaks the air chamber (it is at the blunt end) and the duckling on the end can suffocate. If the egg is stored on the side, it must be turned at least twice a day.
Storage times and hatchability
When eggs are stored for longer periods, the percentage of hatching rate is significantly reduced. Consider the effects of egg storage time on incubation.
Duck eggs shall not be collected for more than seven days. Subsequent storage reduces the percentage of hatching.
Selection of eggs
Incubation of duck eggs at homeIt only begins after the desired instances have been selected. Normally, each egg is illuminated on an ovoscope before laying. During this procedure, samples with microcracks, unequal thickness of the shell, with dark spots inside, with spilled egg yolk, are detected. Such samples are removed.
Ideally, the egg should look like this for incubation:
- The position of the egg yolk should be strictly in the middle. However, eggs may incubate with small deviations.
- Protein must be transparent without dark spots.
- The airbag should be at or near the blunt end. It should not be large.
- After changing clothes, you can start incubating duck eggs.
Laying eggs in the incubator
To get strong, healthy ducklings, you need to lay your eggs properly. This is done with a sharp end downwards and a slight tilt. Musk eggs are arranged horizontally. The incubation period of duck eggs depends on the breed of bird – from 23 to 28 days.
Different devices incubate duck eggs differently. The incubation mode (table above) shows the optimal temperatures for different instrument models.
In the breeding of duck moisture from the eggs through the pores in the shell. The closer the withdrawal time is, the more moisture escapes. To prevent the embryo from dying, the loss of moisture in the egg must be reduced. This is usually done by injections. During this process, cooling and moistening takes place. Spraying is done with warm water from a spray bottle. This procedure is necessary to maintain the humidity during the incubation of the duck eggs. The incubation mode table does not reflect the need for spraying. This is due to the fact that in some devices it is possible to increase the humidity to 95% and to perform adequate cooling (industrial incubators designed to lay thousands of eggs). In them, cooling takes place in automatic mode.
